I have seen this used and wondered about it, so I took a good hit that turreted me, got a slight bit of motion and hit "end sortie" and got the ditch. It should have been a kill for the one who turreted me; they were right in front of me less than 1k out. I knew who it was and felt that was the person to try out this glitch on, as he has become quite adept at it and indeed it was watching him through the zoom in a Tiger that I realized what was going on.
This is a bit gamey to me. I can assure you it will not be repeated by me. However, it would be good to correct this.
Perhaps it is a proximity to base thing as well. However, same conditions and location, "end sortie" results in a kill when not moving at all.
