You are probably best to repost this in the hardware forum, where the PC-savvy types hang out. They will need to know what type of PC you have and how much you want to spend. Your best bet is to run Windows' hardware checking tool, to do so type dxdiag from the start menu. There is a button in the program that produces a text file listing all your PC's hardware (CPU, video card, memory etc.) Add this file as an attachment to your post and it will help everyone to assess what card will be best for your needs.

It depends on many variables such as the resolution and refresh rate of your monitor and of course the desired level of eye candy.

The current mainstream in monitors is 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz. For an enjoyable gaming experience you'd need a mid to high level video card with at least 1 GB of video memory. The absolute minimum is a GeForce 9800 GTX from 2008 having only 512 Mb of DDR3 (slow!!!) type memory.

HiTech himself uses a GTX 660 (launched 2012) in his development computer, so that could be considered as sufficient.

If your budget is tight, second hand is your friend. In any case look for cards with high "tens" in the name and that have 2 to 4 GB of video RAM (GDDR5). By high "tens" I mean numbers like 970 rather than 920. The "tens" tell the relative position within a product line. Look at http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html for guidance. That listing gives the GTX 660 4,122 points, my playable (~40+ FPS) Radeon HD 6970 getting 3,474 points. And the 9800 GTX gets 923...

And yes, as Greebo says, a DxDiag output would help.

Shaders - 896

Comfortable play with default sliders will be 2048 mode. Best 1024 for FPS in furballs. But you will be detected for 4096 and will have a wide variance of FPS mid 20s up to 60.

Like Buster said it will depend on your expectations and where you want your settings.  On the opening launch screen, there are video settings there (in addition to the ones IN the game on the control panel).  Buster was referring to one of the settings there regarding 1024, 2048, and 4096 just to be very specific.  Setting it to 1024, a lower setting, and then using trial/error with the IN game settings on the clipboard, IMO, will allow you to experience the beta very well in terms of performance.  I have a few home theater PCs, one on each TV in my homes, all older PCs, none as good as what you currently are using, and I've been able to get the beta performing pretty well on 2 of them, by doing the above.  You may be able to move the out of game setting up higher, to 2048, depending on what you see and what you wish to use for in game settings.  Again, trial and error for a half hour will give you a good idea.

So, it comes down to how you want to play the new game IMO - if you absolutely want every feature of the rendering engine at max and working, then to answer you question, no, you probably don't have a card quite good enough for that.  However, if you're willing to make some compromises here and there, you'll end up with the game looking almost as good as full blast, but still very playable in terms of FPS, at least IMO.  Bottom line is that there is no reason that machine won't be able to work for you with a bit of tweaking of settings.

Thanks Gman, I have my settings at 1024 for now, might tweak it later. But i was just hoping this card is "OK" for now :salute

  Hawker,

check this link, there are tips to help you configure your game settings to get the best out of your comp.  You have a slightly better vidcard than I do,I have a 7950 AMD with 3 gigs of ram and I expect my comp to run AH3 just fine for now!
