I have been playing this game for quite awhile and I am still wondering how you check  6 someone when you see them in trouble.

could someone please explain this to me?

The default key is the quote (') key -- typically next to the Enter key.

It will highlight (a box will appear around) the player closest to the center of your view.  If that is not the player you want to Check Six, quickly hit it again and it will toggle through different players in your view.  When you have highlighted the right player, just let it do it's thing -- it will send the check six message.  If you check six the wrong player, it's usually nice to let them know you selected them by accident.

The Check Six key is particularly useful in furballs or areas where there are a lot of players using vox (especially if there is a very chatty player who does not to use any kind of brevity, like you will often find over GV spawn fights).  If there is a lot of talk, it creates a lag/delay in the vox buffer.  Ever get a voice check six 5 seconds after you got shot?  That might be why.  The Check Six button is quite useful if you like keeping friendlies alive.  I even have it mapped to my stick.

Hope this helps.

For those of us playing this game for well over a decade, Aces High is more of a social club. The game just provides the framework. I keep logging in for the people and Pipz was the kind that you keep coming to meet again.

I use it quite often when I see someone sneaking up on a guy already engaged with another player! I have it mapped to a different key, but it works quite well and people really appreciate its use!

If you're inclined to GV at all it also works well as an IFF.  If you hear someone rolling towards you but can't see them and you're not sure if it's friendly or not just look towards the sound and hit it.  If you don't get a little blurb in the text bar saying "Check Sixed Player ----" you know it's enemy.

Sometimes a check6 goes to the wrong player in a crowded environment.   It might go to the guy in a Tiger, when it's meant for the guy above him that's about to get picked.   You also might be unable to focus on the intended recipient long enough to send a check6 call.  You have to choose what works best in the situation.

And how can man die better, than facing fearful odds.
For the ashes of his fathers and the temples of his Gods."

You have already seen some very good explanations of it's use.  Next time you are online, ask a team mate (when there is not a fight going on) to let you test it.

I switch countries a lot. I do it for the sake of fighting.

Ive shot down and been shot down by everybody.

When it comes to survival in the MA, if you are aware of your surroundings giving your friendly a 6 check will enhance your teams ability to have more fighters in the sky. When you are furballing, the more friendlies there to back you up, the better. If you give them a check 6 and save their life, they will help you much more in the fight. If your friendlie dies and you get left alone, you will have a much easier chance of getting ganged. I always check 6 because it helps them and it helps me. If you have a team that check 6s a lot you will all stay alive longer and be more successful in the furball.
