Help files not supported in Win10
« on: January 26, 2018, 03:15:28 PM »
When using the film viewer clicking on help area takes you here:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/917607/error-opening-help-in-windows-based-programs-feature-not-included-or-h

Is there any other place to find the help files?

Windows 7 I get a pop up window with this....

"Why can't I get Help from this program?

The Help for this program was created in Windows Help format, which depends on a feature that isn't included in this version of Windows. However, you can download a program that will allow you to view Help created in the Windows Help format.

For more information, go to the Microsoft Help and Support website."

Yes, Microsoft has dropped support for that format.  I thought we had removed those files from the game.

Is there a link somewhere to the help file for the FILM VIEWER that I am able to read. ie. PDF or anything.

I do not want to load unwanted or extra software from Microsoft on my machine just to read one file.

Thanks,

I've never seen a help file for the film viewer.

The film viewer seems to be a powerful program with many features. But to include it without a help file or instructions on how to use its editing features is very odd. Having no response on a help file or the capabilities I started doing a search on the internet came up with this.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8uY6m1d2Zs

It is a Tutorial that was done in 2011. Since that time this program has probably had changes but this is better than nothing.

If anyone knows the full capabilities of this program an updated version of this would be very helpful to everyone trying to use it.

What are you trying to do that you're having trouble with?

First question is in Full Screen mode what are the keyboard commands for Pause, Play, FF, RW, Stop. The ones for moving camera position and views I managed to find by pressing keys until something happened. But the functions listed I could not find.

I'm not aware of any keyboard controls for video playback. I just use the mouse controls.

Have you tried looking out on the Films forum, there were a few good "How To" videos out in that forum?

The Film area has 255 pages there and since the Search function here only returns info from 1999-2001. The time needed to find that information would be more than I am willing to invest.

The search function will return what you need if you limit the number of years (days) to search for.  The default is just nuts.

Most of the how to videos were on YouTube, try the search there.
