New Headset
« on: March 31, 2018, 10:56:04 AM »
Looking for some recommendations gents. Comfort is a top priority. My current headset works good, but after 20 minutes becomes really uncomfortable. Considering wireless because I'm tired of wrestling with the cord while flying.

I use a Sennheiser set. They are wired but Im ok with that. They use the analog input on my sound card, NOT USB. The sound is great, and they are very comfortable, mutes mic when you flip up the mic.

I would think the wireless set would be as comfortable as the wired set.

You may want to start with one of these Logitech cheapos. They get the job done and you'll find one at Wally World or Tar-Jay for under $10.

I've been thru 4 PREMIUM headsets in the $65 - $85 range and they never last me longer than 9 - 12 months. It's always a short in the wiring harness or an ear cup comes free from the harness. YMMV

Went thru a few sets.of pricey turtle beaches in the last few years.  Death of them is similar to what Max posted.  Sounded good while they last i guess though.

Thanks for the responses. I've been doing the cheapo 10-20 dollar headsets for awhile now. The sound quality sucks and they're about as uncomfortable as you can get.
What do you think of the Logictech G533?  https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-G533-Wireless-Gaming-Headset/dp/B01MXE0FKC?tag=headphonesaddict-20 I'd consider forking out the extra dollars for something that will last more than two years, is comfortable to wear for a couple hours at a time and doesn't make me feel like my head's in an oven.

I think you will enjoy the Logitech.
I have had the Logitech G930 for several years, and had no problems with it. It is very comfortable for me to wear even for several hours at the time.
At this point it still works fine, but the foam padding over the ears is just starting to disintegrate a little. (3+ years IIRC )
I really have enjoyed the wireless aspect because I can leave my computer to get a drink, etc, and still at least hear what is happening in the game.
My Sennheiser high dollar rig is sitting quietly parked under my computer bench.

Over all my years of of gaming I want trough countless headsets. The wire always broke premium and cheap ones alike. I was fed up with it and went for a steelseries wireless headset and I am enjoying this one for the last 4 years now. Although it is showing signs off getting close to breaking apart I really enjoyed this little headset. one of my friend bought one of the logitech headsets recommended here around the same time. He really enjoyed it as well. I think the logitech one has better range for walking around with it. This is a thing that you will start to love. He replaced his one 2 years go. so he used it for 2 years and I am still using mine after 4.

Trap consider a wireless one if you are struggling with the cable and make sure you lookup the reviews before buying one. Not all ppl are alike and neither are headsets.

I have a HyperX, super comfy and good quality sound.  THe wired version has like an 8-10 foot long cable that's braided. My cat has tried to gnaw through it several times and i run over it all of the time with my chair...still good!   I've had it for a few years now.

They do make a wireless version, i don't have this one but looks good.

Hi Trap,

I have a Massdrop Sennheiser PC37X Gaming Headset.  One of my sons bought it for me after researching headsets.  I love it; very comfortable.  It is a big improvement over my previous headset.  I use it with my Oculus Rift, and find it more comfortable, with a bit better sound quality, than the Rift earphones.  Here's a link to a review on Tom's Hardware:  https://www.tomsguide.com/us/massdrop-x-sennheiser-pc37x,review-4152.html

I have a Kraken headset, its pretty good. Had it about a year now and it is working fine. The were $59.99. But if you are on a budget and wants something cheaper there are other $20 dollars ones from Walmart.
