78th Razorbacks

Introduction
The 78th Razorbacks is a mature squad with an average age of around 40. Some members have over ten years of online flight sims, some have less than one. The two key things that keep the squad together are the social aspects of online gaming and the interest in the historical aspects WWII air combat. The focus is on having a good time with the guys and enjoying flying the iconic aircraft of WWII in a realistic manner.
History
The squad was founded in 2001 in the MMOG World War II Online as the 78th Fighter Group. The squad had a lot of fun in WWIIOL specializing in bomber escort, but as time went on the game became more focused on the ground war and the air war got left behind. When it became obvious that there would be no significant development in the next few years, the 78th left WWIIOL in June 2006 after flying over 1000 squad missions. After taking the summer off, the squad came to Aces High in November of 2006 and have been anxiously waiting for Combat Tour ever since!
Interests/Focus
The main interest of the squad is flying realistic missions where staying alive counts. To this end the squad keeps it's own player statistics, awards, etc. The squad speciality is bomber escort and participates in weekly joint missions with the 484th and 100th Bomb Groups.
Arenas
The 78th is primarily a Late War MA squad and is currently flying as Rooks. Unfortunately, the squad does not participate in FSO due to the typical issue with timezones (ie. it starts too late for us old guys).
Time Zone
Most members are in the Eastern or Central time zones and squad nights start at 7:30pm Eastern.
Voice Comms
A big part of being a social squad is being able to speak to each other and the 78th uses a private TeamSpeak server which for the sound quality and flexibility it provides (in addition to Aces High vox 178).
Aircraft
The squad can typically be found in the aircraft of the 8th Air Force with the P-47 D11/D25 being the primary fighter and the B-17G the primary bomber.
