All sound downloads should work now.
« on: October 31, 2000, 10:48:00 AM »
Odd thing, Tripod wouldn't allow some people to download a wav file over 500k, so I had to transfer some of the wavs to a different server.  Anyway, they should all work now. If you had trouble getting the 109f4 or 109g10 sounds try them now. It still takes a few seconds to make contact but it will work.

Good sounds FS.Scott, and now I can download em
I had the pleasure of seeing/hearing a P47 (amongst others) at Duxford Airshow this summer. Then I noticed the special turbo sound it had allmost like a Turbojet. I assume its the turbocharger that can be heard through the other engine noise. It can be heard during Engine start and engine off in Scotts sounds, but not when engine is running. In Duxford the whistling could be heard at all times though also when the plane flew over. Just wondering.
Just got an idea! the last part of the Enginestart has the whistlingsound as I heard it at the show, cant that be edited to be used as engine sound?

I know what you are talking about. But the sound routine in AH is not all that state of the art. It takes one wav file and changes teh pitch to give you your sound. If you have a wav file of a P47 at high rpm's and just use that then you are fine at high rpm's, and the turbo will come through just great. But decrease the throttle and it begins to sound "scratchy" like when you slow down a record. Get slow enough and it becomes even worse.

What I am doing is combining wavs so that we still get a good sound on top, while having a good sound on the bottom. The thing I like best is starting up your motor and hearing the pistons knocking. I think low rpm is just as important running high, and in between also.

So really I'm looking for a good sound overall rather than just on one throttle setting.  An ideal wav is one at around 1500 rpms.  That way you dont have to alter the pitch too much to get the right sound.

Right now I'm trying to put something together for the Niki. Pretty tuff since there's no flying Niki's that I know of. If anyone has a Homare 21 engine wav let me know.

Fscott,
I saw some refer to you as Corn.  Well, if you are the real Corn, then a lot of people miss REDSTAR, your bro.  Tell us how he's doing?  ok?

Thorns,

I guess it is more about that hes putting those sounds out like Corn.
In WarBirds, loooong time ago, this Corn guy did make his custom sounds for the planes.. (and now he does those for WWII online i believe)

tho, I don't believe Fscott is Corn even though hes refered to him, what comes to the sound part

I like to believe that I had the nickname of corn long before WB Corn had his. I've used the nick since AW, and my email address has been corn@***.*** for ages. So, I'm teh real corn, yeah...

fscott can you put zipped file instead of wavs ?
Just because if you download a incompletly file AH go to heaven when you start a plane with an incorrect file ...

I will zip them up as soon as I finish them, and then send them to HTCreations and they will post them on the downloads page. Don't have too many more to do. Not going to do all of the planes, just the ones I can do faithfully.
