FAT gene found
« on: November 03, 2003, 03:16:45 PM »
(Reuters) - Scientists said on Monday they had identified a key gene suspected of causing obesity, opening up the possibility of developing early screening programs to identity people at risk. The team compared genome-wide scans of 576 fat arsed and 646 normal weight adults in France, from which they identified two alternative forms, or alleles, of an appetite-stimulating gene called KNIFE and FORK. One form of the gene was found to be protective against obesity while the other increased the risk of obesity.

It is genetic?

So that explains all the fat Ethiopians!

I had always thought (apparently incorrectly) it was sitting on one's bellybutton eating too much.

Don't forget, there's the KFC, BK, TB, and McD genes.

As well as the B&J Cookies and Cream gene.

Of course it's the gene's fault.  And McDonald's fault.

Since these fat people are disadvantaged by this condition that they cannot control, we'll need to institute government programs of fat stamps, fat welfare, diet pill subsidies, and fat healthcare (for the fat-correcting surgeries, of course).

Or just ban the donuts!
