Some months ago...I started a thread in which the topic was an incident of child pedophilia involving a 13 year old student at my school.  The story was written under my alternate handle "H. Godwineson."  The girl and her family were living with her mother's ex-brother in law.  Apparently, they were paying the rent with her body...or else ignoring what was going on.  Eventually, the girl became pregnant by this man, who is 63 years old.

For those of you who shared my shock and outrage, and who were hopeful of justice being done, I offer this followup.

About six weeks before the baby was due, this "man" raped her sixth grade sister.  We have since learned that he was invited to leave another town where he was under suspicion of committing similar acts.  Our small community was not notified of his background.

Social Services employees, upon hearing of the first offense against the older sister, in conjunction with the police, said that they couldn't do anything until the child was born, whereupon they would conduct a DNA test to determine who the father was.  Our expectation was that he would be arrested upon completion of the test.

As of this point in time, NOTHING has been done, except for the fact that the two girls have been removed from the custody of their parents.  The perpetrator has not been tested and is, unbelievably, still free to wander about wherever he wishes.  Apparently, the "authorities" would rather let this whole matter die rather than be bothered to take action.

It seems to me, given several experiences with the social service agencies of my area, that nothing is EVER done in cases of this nature, especially if the children are poor blacks or "white trash."

My question is, does this seem to be the case in your area.  I get the feeling that these public employees are only interested in punching the clock and playing "slap head" and "grab ass" while on the job.

Regards, Shuckins

What do you expect them to do?  I understand why they are waiting.  They can't prosecute a case until they have evidence.  Habeas corpus kicks in as soon as he is charged.  Do him to get off because the prosecution went to trial with no evidence?

I guess every family is different.  If somebody did something like that to somebody in our family, they'd never find the body.

The child was born six months ago.  Nothing has been done.  The perpetrator is still at large.  They've had plenty of time, but as far as can be determined, they aren't pursuing the case.  This is not the only incident I have knowledge of or have been involved in where social services has dragged their feet or ignored an incident.

Seriously, I would shoot him and they would not hesitate to arrest me. Go figure.
