1 of 1.

Hey - this reminds me... There was this great flyer that was around back then. Haven't seen him in ages... Can't remember his call sign at all though.... If memory serves it was Spanish sounding, or Mexican... Like, not as in Jose or anything... more like Taco or Columbo or something.... but not. In fact, it might not be even remotely Spanish or Mexican related. It just dawned on me that he's not around anymore. Nice rambling post huh? Er... anyone know who I'm talking about?

---edit----
If this helps, he was like Beta Tour's 2 or 3 Mitsu, before Mitsu had in fact arrived.

Hmm... some people express themsleves quite nicely while intoxicated. I cannot.

I started the first week of October '99.  Beta Tour 1.

I think it took me a whole day getting a p51 off the ground.  Eventually I had to buy a joystick with a rudder.

Seems like all we could fly was the p51, b17, spit9, 109g10, c47, and maybe the la5.  Bombers had no bombsight or gunners.  Dropping troops sounded like rabid sheep.  Guns were like lasers, no clouds, solid blue sky, no compression, no plane limits, WOW we've come a long way.  Anybody remember when if you got a b17 up to 42k or so you got a message.  "Activating supplemental rocket boosters, maintaining 2.5k per min climb rate?"    Either that or I think for the first few hours that version .46 came out that b17s flew at 600 mph and couldn't slow down or stop climbing!    Oh, and the acks, those things used to be able to shoot down a flea at 10k.

Those were the good old days.... LOL

Day #1. I won't forget looking around and going "Wow, this is what I've been waiting for all my life!" as I was climbing out for the first time.

October of 99 (Beta 1).  Some fool I played Rogue Spear with, who shall remain nameless <cough> Soulyss <cough>, told me about this.  Since then, I have been hopelessly addicted    Speaking of which, I am screwed when the Navy gets here with its wonderful Hellkitty!!  I will never leave the damn game...

BETA tour 2. Had a nice stint, as gunner in various bomber ops. First fighter kill was a Bf-109 G10, oddly the same plane type I was flying. Never forget what the guy told me "I never saw u, nice job!". I remember the murderous torque on takeoff, laser guns, Stuper-Buffs; it was great. One thing I'll also never forget is someone saying "Damnnnnnit! I can't takeoff!" after crashing his P51 for the umpteenth time.

Took me about 4 tries before I was up and running, and all 4 I died on. On attempt #5 I finally got that 109 up, and man was it fun. About the laser AAA; I have the scene etched in my head even now. P-51 diving in on me trying to land for the first time. Laser-guided ack nailed him at 4.7k and he sailed right past me before vanishing. Remember back then? No smoke, no falling parts, no debris, and no BIG fireballs! "Smoke causes lock-ups or dumps w/voodoo cards" bug I'll always remember.

Downloaded it just when 1.0 was up...put it in offline, took a Dhog, and crashed when it went out of the runway

Clicked the fly button again, crashed again.

Tried a Spit ("oh, well, Hog was a difficult plane to fly, right?"). Crashed it

Had not a clue about what the F$%&k was happening (didnt had rudders then, only my humble jok...errr yoke    ), until I found a guy in IRC a couple of day later (when I had already thought "TO THE HELL!!!!" and grabbed Falcon4 again) and told me to give it a try...

Then everything else is known...my first kill (At 900yards with a Spit's hispanos LOL    ),my first sortie in a Chog (got 3 kills   ), my first "coordinated mission" with JG2 in their Squad's Night(hey Swager I will never forget that you were my leader and you crashed at takeoff LOL!    )...and my first Fw190A8 sortie in MA winging Ripsnort (got 4 kills   )....

ahh...goooooooood old days when knights were so outnumbered, and Creamo was Knit....

And nikis were almost unknown

October '99, I was THE spitdweeb... cause it was the only plane I could take off in.   Hollywd took me under his wings (where did he go btw?). My first handle was JENG, but I changed it in the first betatour to Bee. Flew alot with Lephturn and Ghosth who both taught me alot... then the Belgian dweebs (come back Saw), JG2 and now the Rattlers.

Sadly haven't had alot of time to fly lately ... girlfriend is at the moment taking up alot of time and I don't mind it a bit

SALUTE TO ALL THE ACES!
