Sorry for your losses. Italy for your support.

Yeah LDV I saw the roadside bomb attack casualty as well but this is a new situation for the Italians. Doesn't make it any less painful to lose a troop though.

to those serving.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN

I was ashamed to be unaware before yesterday that Italy had people on the ground in Iraq.

I am however blessed to know that Italy is today a leader
among nations as demonstrated by her mortal sacrifice yesterday in Iraq.  Being with those that are trying to finally give the people of Iraq a chance at breaking out of the cycle of oppression so obviously apparent in the attacks against those that would try to help.

Thank you so much to our Italian friends for standing by our side.   Condolences to the Carabinieri and their family members.  The enemy is not merely the enemy of the United States, but of freedom and liberty, and will attempt to intimidate anyone who is helping to restore Iraq.

From another forum:

There are two Italians posting to that thread.  One seems to be GOI and is eager, along with his fellow teammates to punish those responsible.  The other has acquaintences in the Carabinieri.  Good luck and return safely!

Yesterday the 19th italian has been declared technically dead. Among them ther is a NCO from my old Regiment. This morning I was driving in front of the the Carabinieri HQ in Rome, it has literally been paved with flowers. Some people was silently crying, someone was praying. It was moving.

You all should understand what Carabinieri are for Italian people. They not only belong to mechanized army, they patrol our streets, skyes and coasts. Their best units fight against "mafia" and "camorra" in the less accessible regions of italy, like Calabria and Sardinia mountains. You find them everywhere, even in the smallest village in Italy. They are very close to the people.

The "Tuscania" Carabinieri Para Regiment  is closely linked to the "Folgore" Para Division and share their traditions of toughness. Thats becouse they are considered among the best units for peacekeeping missions.
