For Sale: WWII Aviation Magazines
« on: November 14, 2003, 06:00:58 PM »
I'm gonna be listing about 30 of these magazines from WWII from Skyways magazine.

Pretty cool articles, and great for framing.

Any money from the auction gets donated to the Cradle of Aviation Museum.

Search by seller to find the others, but here is the first 5 I've listed.

Hey Muck,

I own almost every WWII aviation magazine made from 1938 –1945.

My oldest is a 1909 (+/- year) magazine showing the first crossing of the English Channel.

You can ask Daddog or Ghosth, I have every magazine that’s under glass at the EAA Museum at Oshkosh. Most of mine are in better shape too.

The market is dead now. I’ve been debating about donating my collection for a big fat tax deduction.

That's some collection!

The guy offered them to the museum, but there was no place to display them and we have copies in the library.

So they were offered to the volunteers. I grabbed a bunch and figured I'd turn them into cash.

Even is I get $100 for all of them, I'd be happy. Whatever I don't sell, I'm going to frame and keep.

Do you use a standard frame to display yours or is there a special type of frame I can get?

Thanks.

The majority of my collection is vacuumed packed and stored in a climate controlled dark room.

The main reason for the low prices, I was told from major collectors, is that family members are selling these magazines at estate auctions in large numbers (our WWII generation becomes smaller every day). Heck, just to be blunt, It’s the old supply and demand model at work.
