They probably flew that night to keep the lw thinking and concentrating on attacks as far away from Normandy as possible. During the night of June 5th. since the US landed on Normandy early morning hours of the 6th
there were many campaigns that we were invovled with prior to our entering the war.. The brits had many of them. when we were just shipping tools of the trade over to them. and as for the french and those countries.. well they never had time to have a campaign they were just over come by the power of the german army. those counties never had a chance ..Mostly the Underground did more to fight the germans then any of thier armies did.. only three countries that could commit major man power and had the industry to Fight a long war were... RU US and BR
Might try looking up german campaigns. maybe there is a list there were it shows battles that did not involve the US
