squad nose art question
« on: November 25, 2003, 11:05:42 PM »
ok I have an image picked out and I have it shrunk to proper size  64x64x256 color,  about 5kb  I am wanting to make it have an invis. background though, so it just shows up as the image and not a big square box around the image... is this possible??

The Upload Noseart button can be used by the squad CO to upload a 64x64 noseart graphic.  Graphics are not displayed in the game nor on the web page until they have been reviewed by the HTC staff.  The transparency color to use in order to make your noseart blend into the plane is {127, 127, 127}. To upload a graphic, make sure your 64x64 bitmap file is named with your Game ID and is in your ../HTC/Aces High/squads/ directory.  Next, click the Upload Noseart button.  Once the noseart is approved, your squad members may force the new image to download by deleting the existing noseart in their ../HTC/Aces High/squads directory.

Hi Friends!

Although RBug's quoting of Aces High help is right, help section is wrong:
The transparency color to use in order to make your noseart blend into the plane is {127, 127, 127}

Those numbers are wrong.

I have already told so to support but they didn't correct help section.

Correct numbers are {176,176,176} :aok

Take care!

Hi USAREC!

In Aces High you MUST use BMP files, although they, normally,  do not allow transparency.
Get any bitmap editor, like, Paint Shop Pro, GIMP, Photoshop, etc.
Load your GIF file, then save it as BMP.
Reload that BMP file and make sure that the color that will be transparent in Aces High has 176,176,176 values for RED, GREEN and BLUE color components.
You will not see any transparency for that BMP file in your editor, or browser.
However, that color (176,176,176) WILL be transparent in Aces High, which shows files in its own way.
If you want to have a preview paste that nose art on a background, with same values.
When you're satisfied save the file in your \Aces High\Squads folder. Go online and choose any bomber(that will allow you exterior view). Go to the runway press f3, for example, and choose best angle to admire your masterpiece.
When you're finished, tell your sqaudies to delete old noseart, to be able to use the new one
I just hope not to see that noseart on my 6.......:D
Sorry for long post, take care!
