DavidPT40, move along, plenty of Iraqi insurgents die here...

U.S. troops thwart an attempt to ambush a military convoy in northern Iraq, killing 46 attackers in the ensuing battle, sources
with the Army's 4th Infantry Division said...

The US military has reported killing 46 militants and wounding 18 in clashes in the central Iraqi city of Samarra.
Five US soldiers and a civilian were wounded in the fighting which raged as militants made a series of attacks on convoys in the city on Sunday.

Eight militants were also captured, US spokesman Lieutenant Colonel William MacDonald told reporters.

News of the fighting comes after a weekend of bloody ambushes across Iraq, largely targeting American allies.

Colonel MacDonald said the US forces had fought back with tank fire as they were attacked by militants wearing uniforms of the pro-Saddam Fedayeen fighters.

How come I post a thread about troops getting blown apart and get 40 or 50 replies (each time).

You post about the only U.S. victory in a long time, and get 1 reply?

No, the war is over.  Pres Bush said so.  The troops aren't getting combat pay.  This must be just some low-scale criminal activity.  The MPs should be able to handle it with jeeps and nightclubs.  If it was a war, we'd send in tanks and helicopters.

Oh.  Wait.  We did.

I must be the only one then.  The majority of your posts focus all on negative stories followed by insanely poor formulated opinions. However, you know what they say about opinions...

Just the opposite, we like happy stories. We just dont like you davidpt40.  When you post, we respond alright, but not to the stories you post, but rather the bellybutton that you are and the way you seem to enjoy posting only negative stories.

You know, I was thinking hard of a decent way to answer that question, but you've said it well enough Dago.

The is a happy story?? Maybe there is more to it. What I read was civilians being so feed up w/ occupation they started taking up arms against US troops...

Here

This battle seems to directly challenge the idea that America is welcome in Iraqi by it's citizens..  November has been a very deadly month for our troops who are not receiving hazard pay from our military supporting president....

I write this with the understanding I dont fault the US troops for firing back... for not looking in the background for civilian targets...  its just war..........................

True it's just war.  I'm sorry that civilians were hurt during the battle, as any loss of life is a horrible thing.   At the time this information was posted, I was pleased to see that our boys circumvented an attack.
