Hardball - Dean just bascially admited to being a draft dodger.

Guess I got to give him credit for being honest.  Not very quick on his feet though.

I saw it on TV.  He presented the Draft Board with information on his "bad back".  When asked, he admitted he was hoping for a deferment.  Not exactly runniing to Canada.  Hell, have those drafted would have like to have had a deferrment.  I can't fault the guy for not wanting to go to Vietnam.  Most didn't.

Its not like I would ever vote for the guy, but just trying to be reasonable.

So, he got out of being sent to a place with a high probability of coming back dead or injured for no good reason.  Sounds like a smart fellow.

Saurdaukar, perhaps you would benefit from being familiar with the definition of a draft dodger before you post?  Draft dodgers typically did not speak to the draft board.

If your qualification for this is that someone doesn't WANT to be fighting in Vietnam, then by your definition, almost every american in combat there was 'dodging the draft'.
