The purpose of MOTD
« on: January 20, 2004, 07:51:33 PM »
I have noticed a trend since starting AH several months ago that the MOTD in the CT often does not match the current setup, for some reason or another.  Personally, I don't care what the setup IS currently, as long as my SA according to the MOTD is correct.

Lately it's a guessing game when I log in....MOTD says 15 troops, will it take 8, 10, 15, 20.....who knows.  VH's spawn P40's....okay fine....give us a fighter.   Tiger's are supposed to be perked...fine.....Hanger down times are listed as 20 for ack, 30 for Hangers......it ends up being 10 for ack and 15 for hangers.  Radar is supposed to be 50 miles but for some reason only covers 5......

I'm not so much pissed as I am dissappointed.  Many of the commanders in the CT rely on accurate information in order to plan the nights activities and lately the information has been incorrect more than 80 percent of the time.  By definition, an MOTD is a Message of the DAY.....not just a message for the map.

While I am not fully aware of what it takes to post an MOTD.....a person should not be given privilages to make changes to a setup unless ALL the players can be notified of the change, not just the dozen or so who happen to be on when the settings were changed.

In Scenarios that are dynamic over a course of time, 3 days with something, next 3 days lose something, blah blah blah......CHANGE the MOTD!  When any change is made in any arena it can dramatically affect the way the game is played as a whole or as a single pilot.

That is all,

Splurts,

Thanks for the comments. The perking of the Tigers was missed on my end because I didn't let Skuzzy know I wanted them perked. I haven't been able to get the MOTD changed to reflect that they were not perked. Also the hangar downtimes and other items were missed by me for one reason...I used an existing MOTD from a table and we had decided to change the times and again I didn't catch it in the MOTD. This being my first setup to run in the CT; I knew I would make some mistakes and as I find them I have been correcting them as do all CT Staffers with their setups.

As a CO of a squadron in the CT and MA I take a look at the current settings just to confirm what I see in the MOTD. If I see something that is different I then ask the person who is running the setup about it before making further comments.

So again thanks for the comments and please in the future look at who is running the setup for the week and let us know if something differs from what is mentioned. I will be working on the setup tonight to get things updated to what they are supposed to have.

Thanks for the quick reply and the clarification of the setup you did.  You've done a wonderful job so far and we are lucky to have you as well as all the others CM's.....hell, who else out there is gonna work for free?

I do look forward to whatever answer can be provided on the Strat question.

Here's the question as stated so others will understand the answer.

"When Strat is disabled in the CT, does this also affect the means of accelerating the regeneration of a base by dropping Airfield supplies via M-3 or C-47?  IE. If Strat is disabled, does it disable Airfield supplies."

Hey Reschke, you have done a great job on this... Your first map. It is nice to see someone that finally cares about both sides of the coin as far as the players are concerned. Just my humble opinion of course.:aok

Thanks TwoDogs. I am glad that you guys liked this one. Even though you did blast me out of the sky when I came screaming in with my IL-2 trying to release the pressure on A12 the other night.
