"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed."

Said during the Korean War.  How ironic.

MT... I believe he was talking about war and I also believe that he aknowledged that war was a bad thing by that quote...  He also was in the midst of a war at the time so he also would apear, by his actions, to realize that there often is no choice.

I would rather feed someone than shoot em but I realize that sometimes I am powerless to do more than simply shoot em.    In any case.... I would be prudent to be prepared for either option...

He was saying war is a bad thing alright. And he was saying it while a war was still being fought. What if someone like John Kerry were to say the same thing today. He would be villified as anti-American and a terrorist sympathizer.

Perspective.

Not the same at all.   You can comment on the tragedy of war and still support it as being the best option under the circumstances.

Lack of perspective is fantasizing about what people can and can't say instead of focussing on what they do say.

Kerry is better than Dean but then again, so is Al Gore.

Who gives a **** about the people?  They are probably poor people anyway, thus undeserving of anything.  More bombs!
