Process Hogging CPU
« on: December 07, 2003, 08:25:04 PM »
I have one of the Service Host process that tries to hog 60-80% of my CPU.  When I try to end the task the error message comes up that the "RPC Has been treminated and the system is restarting".

So I have determined that its the RPC service thats hogging all the CPU.  I did not have this problem until I reinstalled XP Pro the other day.

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.  You can not disabe the RPC from the services menu.  You can only set it so that it restarts the service insted of restarting the machine when it fails (or when you close it manually).  So basically you can kill it but it restarts itself  within a minute or so.

Thanks for any input,
Whit

I think symantec has a fix for the blaster worms and its variences.
check in your c:\windows\system32  folder for a file named  yuetrue.dll or something like that.  This is the mother worma nd it gives birth to little babie worms whenever you try to get rid of it using a antivirus program.
I had to barge into the c: prompt when my puter was booting up, and manually delete it before the command started the damm thing.

I got that little B***d after going online after playing AH and forgetting to restart my firewall. Virus scanner cleared it out though. Now I leave firewall up AT ALL TIMES.  No connection issues yet.
