Ok I'll be serious...
I've watched these threads since I started reading the BBS.
I'll give you my perspective:
(there will be a question for the furballers in the end)
As a spanking new player in the MA I got the impression that base capture was the point of online presence. On the BBS I've learned that some value K/D ratios, some K/H ratios. Some are here JUST to dogfight. Allegedly some come online JUST to bomb toolsheds.
I do most things in the MA, whatever I feel like doing. Sometimes I like to help fellow players run down a field to allow base capture. I vulch every time the opportunity presents itself. Sometimes I like staying alive instead of taking chances, othertimes I don't care. I fly mid-war planes as a rule, but it is possible for me to get irritated enough to up a niki for base defense (but I always repent). I fly furballs when i find them, and they're usually fun.
I like the diversity of it and would be equally bored with flying ONLY furballs or ONLY porking runs.
I don't put myself in any category in the furballers vs. stratplayers arena.
Ok, that's me.
The root to the furballers problem is base capture, i guess. If it wasn't for base capture noone would care to pork anything. It is base capture that make people horde a base to secure its change in ownership.
What I'm getting at is that I wonder if anyone (save a precious few) would enjoy a MA with no base capture? Or bases so hard to capture that most of us can't do it. That would lead to even bigger hordes, and hurt everyones fun. It seems that most of the players online play to capture bases, in one way or the other.
Or does most players furball?
I understand those who exclusively furball when they get angry for having their base levelled.
I just don't see how everybody can be happy.
Is it possible?... I haven't seen any ideas yet that doesn't favour one group over the other.
