Slapshot! "You asked for a film - I gave you a film and not with the intention of you using it to poke at my CO. That was wrong." Yes, I do apologise to both Rude and yourself for that. Ordinarily, I don't post anything on the BBS that has been emailed to me privately. In this instance, anyone (including myself) could have been present when Rude said what he said, and would have been free to quote him. But it's a borderline case. I will give you the benefit of the doubt, and have removed those remarks from my post.

Ok I'll be serious...

I've watched these threads since I started reading the BBS.

I'll give you my perspective:
(there will be a question for the furballers in the end)

As a spanking new player in the MA I got the impression that base capture was the point of online presence. On the BBS I've learned that some value K/D ratios, some K/H ratios. Some are here JUST to dogfight. Allegedly some come online JUST to bomb toolsheds.

I do most things in the MA, whatever I feel like doing. Sometimes I like to help fellow players run down a field to allow base capture. I vulch every time the opportunity presents itself. Sometimes I like staying alive instead of taking chances, othertimes I don't care. I fly mid-war planes as a rule, but it is possible for me to get irritated enough to up a niki for base defense (but I always repent). I fly furballs when i find them, and they're usually fun.
I like the diversity of it and would be equally bored with flying ONLY furballs or ONLY porking runs.
I don't put myself in any category in the furballers vs. stratplayers arena.
Ok, that's me.

The root to the furballers problem is base capture, i guess. If it wasn't for base capture noone would care to pork anything. It is base capture that make people horde a base to secure its change in ownership.

What I'm getting at is that I wonder if anyone (save a precious few) would enjoy a MA with no base capture? Or bases so hard to capture that most of us can't do it. That would lead to even bigger hordes, and hurt everyones fun. It seems that most of the players online play to capture bases, in one way or the other.

Or does most players furball?

I understand those who exclusively furball when they get angry for having their base levelled.

I just don't see how everybody can be happy.

Is it possible?... I haven't seen any ideas yet that doesn't favour one group over the other.

Read my thread on the lazs strat idea...  you would still need field capture but it would not be the be all to end all that it is now..   fluffs would be needed to kill the cities... those who did not wish to participate in the "winning" could simply fight other players for an hour or so...

Do you not see any value in base captures?
How long have you been flying furballs exclusively?

(no hidden intentions in my question)

my idea would not get rid of base capture... It would still make base capture important.   porking bases is what I don't see value in.

in earlier threads I have suggested that I wanted bases closer together with easier capture.  but... I have never wanted fields to be porked and useless.   they should either be yours and usable or... be the enemies.

Bleatle why the devil do you have .ef mapped to your thumb button? I got cannons on mine. Is it so you can sit on a runway in a flak and hit exit so no bomb kills you?

It's a brand new stick, and I'm still experimenting. There are actually FIVE thumb buttons. The one on the left side of the stick is too easy to press inadvertently.

Okay, maybe not outvoted, if the vote were taken here in general discussion. But online is something else altogether. I think HTC is aware of some numbers trend favoring akdessert or perhaps it would have gone a long time ago. Maybe it's not that tough.

Meta, My point was: you don't really know for a fact one way or the other.. and neither do I.

If it actually came to an online vote, where each person could only vote once... I'd be willing to abide by the decision of the voters, one way or the other.  I will admit that I think the pizza map would be ousted, and thus my dispute over your statement.  Hard to guage in the BBS.. and not  really fair since there is really only a small portion of the MA population represented here, albeit a very vocal one.  :)   (vocal on both sides)

Steve I have seen evidence to indicate a favoritism by players for akdessert or I wouldn't have written what I did and I stand by it. I believe a lot more people prefer to fly on akdessert than not and perhaps it is even the favorite map in rotation.

It would be simple to determine.
