Despite repeated efforts to the contrary, we (Knights) managed to hold onto 24 for quite a while tonight. It was only when the odds became overwhelming that we finally succumbed to the inevitable. Salute to all who participated, it was fun (even getting vultched!).

Yeah, it was fun.  (I'm knight too.)  Later on the battle for 16 was even more fun, but this time it was the other way around.  Knights trying to take rook base.  We never did though   .  We did manage to take back 13, 10, 14, and 15 from them though.   (I'm sure they took them back later though, only 3 knights were left when I signed off.)  Good fight as usual rook, (bish too). Salute all!

yup, it was a fun fight.  Only thing I want to know is where ya'll the troops ya'll kept dropping on the runway when our gooney birds were inbound and made a drop.  I flattened the barracks at 24 every time I saw them up.  Saw one goon appear on the runway before I knocked them out, so that explains him =)

The Knights deserve a standing salute period... always out numbered by at least 3-1, yet you guys still put up quite a show!

Salute

Yes, noticed friendly "P's" on the runaway... couldn't tell ya for sure who was doing that, as I was in a fighter fighting for my life all night. Don't think I like the runway drops to save fields, though in this case it definitely extended the good fight for some time!

Yeah it was fun. Won't say the name of the guy dropping friendly troops but I'll just say he's our own snowman..hint hint.

Had a blast getting vulched at 24..even had fun chasing Handy back to his ack. I knew I was going to die but had to make him sweat a bit.

It was nice having the # of pilots we had for a change..made it alot more fun.

I'm not worried about who did it.  I look at dropping troops on the runway as calling the base defenders out of the barracks to stop the incoming paratroopers.  What I want to know is how he was getting troops just minutes after I flattened the barrack.

cavej,

You are aware that there are two barracks buildings at these sill airfields?  That bit us in the rear one day not too long ago.

Believe it or not he was popping out ahead of time and sitting on the runway (I think). If you don't move guns can't hurt you. Again, I don't think I like this as a feature.

dolomite I saw him appear one time on the runway before I got the barracks, then about 10 times after I got the barracks.

buhdman yes, I'm aware, but wasn't taking down just 1 barracks sufficent to disable troops?  It was at one point I thought

Actually it's from the television show "MadTV". They had a skit on a funkadelic pimp from the 70's that made "the baddest movies ever made". And they were.

"He bad, he black, he Dolomite!"

"B**ch, gimme back my magic pimp cane!"

My twisted humor, just seemed funny.

I believe dolomite is actually a type of stone, originally made out of plankton.  Ever hear of the dolomite mountains in Italy I believe?  Bunch of former sea-rot now raised a few k above sea level.

Thanks for the answer Dolomite, very interesting. Its nice when your call-sign has some meaning of some kind, gives you "personality". Keep flyin'.
