Another Hummmmm Dinger
« on: December 15, 1999, 10:30:00 AM »
Last nite online was pretty intense (9:00-10:00 pm EST).  It seems all countries are getting very aggressive defending or trying to capture airfields.  I flew for the Knights and talk about a serious fullball trying to protect one of the airfields.  WOW!  At one time all the surrounding aircraft were within 3 of me over the field (ack was down)!  Close to 10-12 aircraft!  2k to the deck! Diving, Twisting, Firing, Exploding.  Never seen anything like it!  I had bingo ammo! Then I exploded ending a 4 kill sortie.  Thanks Wabbit!

Damn rooks anyways

Rooks tried the tactic of landing C-47s until the area cooled down.  We kinda found them!  HeHe

I had to leave and never saw what happened.  Broke my heart scamming out on my countrymen.  Sorry Knights!

After I logged off my leg started a slight jittering that I couldn't control!  Weird!

Hope it happens again!

A big salute to both the Knights and Rooks!

Rock:  Ya see that Ensign, lighting the cigarette?
Powell: Yes Rock.
Rock: Well that's where I got it, he's my son.
Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.
Rock:  No ya wouldn't.

yup, i love them furballs because my kill ratio goes way up. :-)  too much time playing a certain IGZ game i guess.

i believe the proper term for out of ammo is 'winchester'  however i'm not sure that term was around during wwii.

swager,

I agree that the fight over 24 last night was most intense!  I was flying Rook and had a blast!  I tried vulching at first -- a very gratifying venture especially with so many skillful pilots around to bail my arse out of the many corners I found myself in.  Then I switched to C-47.  GronK and myself flew a high (10k+) goony-bird run into 24 during the height of the battle.  We both dove down to drop our troops and compressed so badly it was all we could do to pull out before we became permanent land fixtures.  Suddenly, there I was with plenty of energy (for a C-47) and face-to-face with a N1K.  I think I surprised him because I lived through the encounter.  I pitched back from the East and did a high circling dive back through the furball over the field and deployed my troops.  They were all within the confines of the field, but, alas, I fear they met with untimly deaths from all the bullets flying through the air.  Somehow I managed to wind up flying East with all bandits flying West.  That and some serious air support from my compatriots allowed me to (it was indeed a miracle) egress back to F20 safely.  <SALUTE> to those who made that possible.  GronK almost made it out alive, but some N1K (I wonder if it was the same one I encountered) found him out and beat out the air cover.  Sigh.  I came back with another C-47, but by that time chaunc (I think it was) made a successful drop and captured the field.  I dropped my troops as reinforcements some minutes later (more for grins than anything else) and the battle moved to F13.

<SALUTE> to all who fought so valiantly and especially to those who covered my rear end!

Shower,

I'm like you, I run out of ammo and often find myself chasing after the bandits with nothing but spit and grit looking for a chance to boogy.  If I see you in that state, I'll try to help.  Maybe the two of us can scare them to death

buhdman, out
