I've seen some ugly divorce cases and too often the child is caught in the middle. Its not unusual for one parent to claim the other parent is a criminal (child abuse is a popular accusation) in order to try and gain a favorable position in the courts and win sole custody of the child. I'm not surprised to hear that the same accusation was made here, given the animosity the father and mother are displaying. She refuses to let the father see the child and he refuses to let the child have a choice to see him (because she might decide not to see him).
This case has been making headlines ever since the Mom was jailed and the daughter left the country to live in New Zealand. I remember "Today" doing a special satellite interview with the mother and daughter about 10 years ago.
The kicker is, the "child" is now 21 so the whole custody thing is moot, but the parents are still fighting.
It must suck to be carrying around that much hate in their hearts. I wonder how screwed up the daughter is now.
