Padlock request
« on: December 19, 2003, 04:58:24 PM »
when using padlock (F11)

I would like a button that toggles the target select.

For instance, when flying along you c a bandit.  Hit the toggle and it is selected and your view padlocks it.  Hit the toggle again and the bandit is unselected with your view going back to default.

It is hard to stop padlocking now.  If i want to stop padlocking  I need to hit f1.  then if i want to start it again i need to hit f11 then tab to select the plane.

I rarely use it because it is just easier and faster to use snap view.

It is fun for formation flying and just mess'n around.

The real reason I would like to use it more is for the moments when I am in a hi-g barrel roll or turn.  Often it is difficult to follow the con with the small vision circle as the circle is always in the center of the screen in each snap view.  I find myself relaxing my turn or rolling just to keep the con in the viewable area.

Padlocking in this situation would allow me to manuever at max turn rate while still being able to follow the cons moves when the con is not in the center of a snap view.
