Set-Up Suggestion Box
« on: December 28, 2003, 12:20:15 PM »
Dennis’ thread, “The Great Debate” got me thinking about running a few match-up based set-ups instead of battle based set-ups.  What I would like to do in this thread is have players suggest match-up based set-ups.  In a few days I’ll compile the ideas in a new post and we will vote on them.  Maybe if the CT CMs like the suggested ideas, they’ll run a few.

Suggest whatever you like, but keep the match-ups Allied verses Axis.

I’ll start with a few examples:

1. All Jug verses all 190s
2. All Hog verses all Japanese
3. German Buff hunter set-up – (109G-10, 110G-2, 190A-8, etc, verses all allied buffs with P-51D and P-47D-30 as escorts)
4. Singles verses Twins for Icons Off Option: Allies get P-38, A-20 & B-26 Axis gets all Japanese fighters.  (With icons off, you can easily ID enemy planes!)
5. Tom & Gerry - All Brit verses All German (with late war monsters perked or base limited)

As a purely scientific appraoch...

I'd like to see all Russian Fighters (lend lease as well) vs. All US Fighters.

I don't like skernk's suggestion, but it points up one you left out ...
Yaks vs 190s

Interesting idea, eskimo.  This is kind of what I was going for.

We might as well number them:

6. All Russian Fighters (lend lease as well) vs. All US Fighters.

7. Yaks vs 190s

I think you can find this in the MAIN ARENA. Hop in a P-51 and you are sure to find a 190. HOp in an La-7 and you are sure to find....well everything. Go for it, go find your fight!

Variety is the fun of it, the less variety the duller it is. Finn-Russ has Yaks, P-40s, and LAs vs 109Gs, 190s and 110s at all points of the map. The reason its interesting is because of the # of types used.

"1 or 2 types of fighters per side so that if my rotte of 109's runs into Hurricanes it won't run into spits and ponies and jugs and tiffies simultaneously"

Sounds like the Duelling Arena, all neat and tidy with no surprises.

As for the micro campaign idea, yes, I do like that.
