Well, I don't know if you're blind or if your monitor just sucks monkey nuts, but that's not my problem. Hell, I'm flying on a PIII 1GHz with a GeForce 3 right now. Some are flying with P4 supermachines with Radeon 9800 cards, and others are flying on 'puters that are slower than mine. I call THAT imbalance. Well, not really, 'cause I don't care about that either, but it fits in nicely with your line of thinking.
With the two video cards that I've had, this and my V5-5500, I've been able to see planes at night when I get up close. It sure as hell isn't easy to see them, but I can manage to follow them when I'm close. The only setting I've ever changed on my monitor (apart from geometry and placement) is brightness and contrast, which have both been lowered from the factory setting.
Some choose to up their "gamma" (whatever that is) and others might be able to see better than me too, but I really don't care. I enjoy the change of pace that flying at night brings, it's different and it's fun - to me. If it went away I wouldn't cry about it, but I hope it stays. I like it. Night Rules!...at least for the short time that it appears in the MA.
-edit- Oh, and please accept my humblest apologies for responding to your question to Metatard. I thought it was open to anyone who liked nights, but I was obviously horribly mistaken.
