Aces High newspaper, delivered to your house three times a year.

Airhead's prediction post got me to thinking...you know Airhead is a good writer, along with many others on this BBS.

There could be a section for arts and entertainment, sports, a cartoon page (the Funnies...) in addition to advertising (the sponsors of the paper pay for it.)

 Whoever headed up the project would have their work cut out for them.  Far fetched idea I suppose.  But it would be kinda neat, especially if it was like a regular newspaper with two or three sections, photos, the works.

If not a paper, then perhaps a yearly magazine (once a year) with everything there is to know about AH (rules, dot commands, stats, etc...), in addition to the cool advertising and articles therein.  Would make a great souvenir for the players.

Like I said, probably a far fetched idea.  Would be very hard to do, and expensive.  

What we really need is a coffee table book.:D

Have any of you thought about this?  Would this be a bad idea?  Or even feasible?

Ill write for the damned thing - already do political stuff - would be a nice change.  ;)

Why not start off cheap?  

Create an e-mail sign-up and send out a weekly or monthly newsletter?  "Airhead's Predictions" "Animal's Corner"  "Oct's Weekly Rant" etc...

I'd sign up :)

Seriously, thanks for the replies.  Still like the idea of the coffee table book though!!!  Or even the yearly magazine digest.


Newspapers are serious business.  I have no idea what goes into making one.  Or even a book or magazine for that matter.  Just seemed like a neat idea.

It would take a lot of work to make the eZine.  Same as for a printed catalog.  The printed catalog would be a keepsake...something special, to look at 10 years from now.

I'm thinking a nice book or something, about the size of a Cabela's catalog.  Maybe a one shot deal.

The eZine would be a good start, but the thing to remember is, with a printed book, politics must be set aside.  Or if they are included, quotes from contributors must be done in good taste and a dignified fashion.  Remember, this would be for AH players foremost, and not made to open up old wounds, or start a war or something.  Guess the main purpose would be as a remembrance of these crazy times.  What better way than to put it on paper, where everyone can read it.

Well anyway, I've been drinking Irish Creme all night and am tired.  I said it was a far fetched idea.  Thanks for your response Sandman.  I'm old fashioned and believe the printed and delivered publication would have more keepsake value.

Mini, give me two months. Steph and I are selling our home in Sacramento and we're moving to Ukiah where we're opening a small print/copy business. Time to get out of the rat race.
