ATI 9600 XT 256Mb or 9700 pro 128Mb?

prices are about the same, which is the better card?

gigabyte k8nnxp mobo
athlon 64 3200+ cpu
512 Mb pc 2700

I would say the 9600XT
But I could be wrong ask skuzzy on this one.

Tough call between those two cards.  The 9700Pro will be faster than the 9600XT, but the 9600XT could be more stable due to being based on later generation silicone that addresses some issues in the 9700Pro.

The 9600XT runs much cooler than the 9700Pro and requires significantly less power.

I really don't know.  Hard choice.

The 9700 Pro is generally significantly faster than the 9600 XT.  You might also want to look for the 9800 (standard - i.e. non pro).  It performs basically identically to the 9700 Pro.

Just my 2 cents worth but have a 9600 and i'm happy with it.
I get 75 fps
Asus A7N8X dlx
Amd 2800
Ram 1 gig
Radeon 9600
nec 19" AccuSync 90

Will wait and see how ah2 works out and I may upgrade but its funny how a years worth of time will change the cost and or the video card picture:)
