Has it painted itself into a corner?  Would any other NCAA program fire a football coach with a 10-3 record?

Wow!  Unbelievable!

More importantly, what decent coach would want to coach there after his predecessor was fired for going 10-3?

Being from Nebraska I have to agree with you.  When I talked to my parents they told me that the media knew about his fireing befor he did.  ALOT of people in Nebraska are REAL upset.  Huskers football is like a religion in Nebraska (there's nothing else there) on game day the roads and stores are EMPTY!

There season last year was HORRIBLE....This year was much better though.

There interim coach has petitioned to be named the teams head coach but the stupid athletic director that fired Solich is looking for a more "high profile" coach.  http://www.thedenverchannel.com/cfoot553/2731553/detail.html

Still though I will ALLWAYS be a Huskers fan no matter how bad/good they do

Nutt's decision NOT to go to Nebraska made me a happy camper.

Personally, he's a good coach and leader of a program, but I dont know if he would have done any better there than Solich.  I'm pretty happy with consistant 8 to 9 win seasons with the occasional sniff of something bigger.  I do think the goobs who have been raising heck in Arkansas over the razorbacks "lack of success" need to be took out and beat with a wet noodle.  They almost drove off the one coach who really fits here.  I guess they would happier if we lost Nutt and went back to the days of 4 win seasons.  Oh yes, that would be soooo much better

I think Nebraska is going to have to get worse before they can get better.  They are built to run the option, and pass 5-10 times a game -- an offensive philosophy that no "high-profile" coach endorses.  Its going to take at least 3-4 years of recruiting to get the personell needed to really fit another system.  Which is about the same time its going to take for the next head coach to wear out his welcome and get canned.

Have they tried to pry Mike Beamer from Virginia Tech?  I think he might be a good fit, but I dunno if he'd leave.
