Bit of a cheek but anyone have an X45 using FS2004?
« on: January 04, 2004, 08:29:18 AM »
Hi all,

I've bought my father-in-law an X45 set-up for Xmas and been helping him install it.  Now I don't have FS2004 and have not used it and we are having trouble assigning buttons / hats / rotaries to the right bits.

1. I want to assign the "view back" etc to the No1 Hat switch but when I try to assign for example "view back" it puts "Hat Switch" in the assignment box and then any operation of the hat switch in any direction causes a rear view.  So how do I assign a specific hat direction to a view.  Oh if I swap views to what I guess is 3d cockpit the panning works ok from the hat.

2. I want to assign the rotaries to trim. I have picked "pitch Trim" in the joystick assignments and assigned the No1 rotary to it but it isn't recognising it - any ideas??

3. If you accidently leave the throttle in a postion other than full back at the start of a flight you have to pull it back fully before it throttles up - is this normal??

Thanks for any help

Are you using the Saitek profile editor to assign the buttons?

It is really easy to use, but I don't think the rotaries can be programmed yet using it...I could be wrong, but I don't use them.

Hi Curval - no I don't use the editor. I've shied away from it s I found it a bit confusing.  Is it a steep learning curve??

No, the editor is easy...really easy...to use.

Just make sure you have the latest version.  If the stick you bought your Dad had the disk with the old drivers on it you just need to download the new ones at the Saitek web-page.  In fact I wouldn't even bother trying the disk first....just go to the Saitek page for the editor and drivers.

There is one little trick to ensure the device is recognised properly which is easy to explain.

If you do try the Saitek editor and have any trouble e-mail me at:

The 2.5 Saitek drivers wouldn't work the rotaries or reprogram the rocker under Windows 98se.  I'm using 2.6 with WindowsXP and the editor works great but there is a newer verson out I haven't tried.

For Windows98se, there is a third party utility on the net which supports Windows98se and the 2.5 drivers.  I found it right after I upgraded to XP so I never tried it.  Do a Google search if you need it.
Easy in-game again.

They are Dauzimmer drivers that Easycore is talking about.  Do a search on that.
