buying your own planes a crazy idea
« on: January 06, 2004, 05:14:30 PM »
iv allways thought how cool it would be to buy your own plane in aces high and being able to paint it and modify it and it would cost perks to buy a plane depending how good the stock plane is

say i buy a P51D for 15 perks paint job is 3 perks and say i want to add  2 cannons to it and it would cost 20 perks depending how good the cannon is

now im not sure if the P51 plantform could handle cannons

ok after you modify it

if you die or jump from the plane then its gone and cant be taken back

but if you ditch you can get the plane but well have to buy parts to repair it

what do you all think of this idea?

i dont think TOD well go off into modifying your own planes

i just think they well let you change stuff like adding 20mm gun pods on LW planes but they well not go off the main stock;)

like noobs get P40B and good pilots get P40E

we could add pink doughnuts floating in the sky that reload your palne and repair it if you pass through.

we could add warp spots that if you fly into it teleports you to the next level.

or HTC could stop holding back technology and enable the F16 falcon off the CV's.. it is 2004 for God's sake.
I don't know what to put here yet.

Why would you want 20mm cannons on a P51 when it already has 6 Laser .50 calibre MGs?

The P51/Mustang IA that actually had 20mm cannons was also powered by the Allison engine. The P51D that we have in AH produces as much horsepower at 26k than the P51/Mustang IA did at sea level. It would make a great alternative to the Spit V. Photo-recon guys loved it.

1- its not historically accurate

2- they would need to design flight models for evey possible loadout as adding things to your plane would add weight / drag

though i do like the idea of customisation on the personal level, if im not mistaken though we will be able to choose from a selection of paint skins that other players will see as well

They wouldn't have to modify flight models for anything that doesn't disrupt the geometry of the airframe.  Adding extra weight to different parts of the plane, or modified engine performance would just change a few numbers.  The game's physics model takes care of the rest.

I'd rather see an option that allows you to buy sheep or at least rent them by the hour.
