1.998 Beta problem

I grabbed the latest beta 1.998 and installed the 1.997 - 1.998 update ... open the game setup the video to 800x600 32bit, textures enabled ..

Well it just freaked out , its a wierd type multi coloured flashing screen .with sticking mouse curser trails ...

I deleted the video.cfg file  and reset video to 800x600 16 bit disabled the  textures...

same problem ... auuuuuuurrrgh

now ive dled the full version of 1.998 and doing the over write .

repeated the above same problem ... Ive done the unistall and fresh install ... uuuugh same problem again ...

system specs ....
Ecs K7S5A 1.3 ghz Amd
512 ram
GF2 mx 400 64mb , 30.82 drivers , DX 9.0b , 32bit -800x600
Win 98 se  fully updated .AV set to manual scan ,no firewall running on this pc .

If you need my DX master file just yell and i'll post it .

same problem here ATI card. fast  flashing screen and all

just disabled the Support for 32bit Z-buffer depth setting on my ATI compatiblity settings and starts up ok

been beating my head on the desk ... i turned everything down and it still wont work .

I had that same problem when experementing with agp setings, make sure youe depth of request in agp settings is set to auto. Also make sure your moniter timing mode is on autodetect.

I get the same problem with GeForce2 MX/MX 400 using NVidia drivers.

nope don't have the prob you described rosco . . . using a ti4200 myself.  2.66 intel and 1gig cheap 3300 ddr.

Found the bug, if you can turn off 32bit zbuf you should be fine. Will be fixed for the next patch.

Thanks... I turned off the buffer in the 30.82 driver program ,
It got alittle better (I got into the game at least) but the weird video flashing was still there ,along with mousetrails and video destortion .
