Without me coming off sounding too ignorant, what does the Squad Ops section do, what goes on there?

SquadOps, or "Tour of Duty - TOD" as they were called before HTC took the name for AH2, are weekly, squad-based events. Each SquadOp usually lasts 3 weeks, over 3 consecutive Fridays or Sundays.

Unlike other 'walk-on' events, squads need to register their interest in advance and plans for each side are sent out in advance, with participating Squad COs taking it in turns to CO one frame. Because of the amount of planning which is necessary for SquadOps, squads are asked to commit a certain number-range which they have to keep to within certain limits to hopefully keep things balanced.

SquadOps have been running for a couple of years now and the Friday SquadOps in particular are the most popular weekly event on the calendar, often with 200 participants each week.

To give an idea on the extent of planning, etc for the SquadOps see this thread in the Special Events/SquadOps forum. Participating Squads don't necessarily have to be the same as MA squads, and quite a few are made up of a mix of different MA squad members, or have guests from other squads.

The new Events Server, where participating Squads will now sign up with their committed numbers, is where we need this splash screen; something which depicts Squads working together to achieve their side's objectives in the "Squad Operations".

The pic above is one of many variations I've come up with on *this idea*.

I'm not entirely happy with the "Squad Operations" text\fonts.
Another variation would be iin the format of the Aces High logo text, which would probably title it "Aces High Squad Operations".

Like I said, it's one Idea, with nothing concrete. Everything is in layers, so it's real easy to replace any one object.

I agree, the font & shape of the text shoud be changed. Also IMO the eagle on the right is too dark (wing ends are disappearing in the dark). The side images on the corners should be larger. Otherwise the image and the layout is great!

Yes, I know it's so easy to criticize other ppl's great work and especially when you are not able to do a quarter of the work of the artist him/herself've done =)
