SquadOps, or "Tour of Duty - TOD" as they were called before HTC took the name for AH2, are weekly, squad-based events. Each SquadOp usually lasts 3 weeks, over 3 consecutive Fridays or Sundays.
Unlike other 'walk-on' events, squads need to register their interest in advance and plans for each side are sent out in advance, with participating Squad COs taking it in turns to CO one frame. Because of the amount of planning which is necessary for SquadOps, squads are asked to commit a certain number-range which they have to keep to within certain limits to hopefully keep things balanced.
SquadOps have been running for a couple of years now and the Friday SquadOps in particular are the most popular weekly event on the calendar, often with 200 participants each week.
To give an idea on the extent of planning, etc for the SquadOps see
this thread in the Special Events/SquadOps forum. Participating Squads don't necessarily have to be the same as MA squads, and quite a few are made up of a mix of different MA squad members, or have guests from other squads.
The new Events Server, where participating Squads will now sign up with their committed numbers, is where we need this splash screen; something which depicts Squads working together to achieve their side's objectives in the "Squad Operations".
