Hey Dennis...Before you come in spouting off at the mouth take a second and think of little thing called slavery.  It was a major issue and had alot to do with the Civil warand is now ILLEGAL.  Is that clear enough for you to understand or should I say it again?

I could give  watermelon if you southern boys wanna run around in little white hats and sheets.  But slavery is gone and you can be racist if thats your choosing because yes it is your right but hey no one said that being ignorant was against the law.

My point wasn't in regards to the south wanting to be independent it was directed towards slavery.

So why didn't you just say that?
Personally, I'm for a constitutionally limited federal government, and more power in the hands of states and individuals.  That also puts me in lockstep with "the way of thinking of the South from the Civil War."   That scares you?

Well, being from California, I see how you could be frightened by more power in the governor's hands. :rofl

Yeah, I figured you were basing your condemnation of mid-19th century Southerners on an over-simplistic view of the Civil War.  I just thought I'd call you on it.

It just gripes me when people make blanket statements like that.  Particularly comparing Southerners to Nazis.  In point of fact, there weren't very many states North or South you could call poster children for race relations in the 1860s.

Off soapbox.

Dennis I didn't figure someone would my statement as being against allowing a state to be independent.  Thats why I didn't say slavery directly from the beginning.  Even Texas has fought to be there own independent state and there's nothing wrong with that.

My only issue would be if folks (a government)went to the extreme as in slavery and segregation again.  I've lived in a southern state and saw and heard how some thought and that in fact disturbed me.  You'd think they wanted to go back days of castles and dungeons.

I should have said some of the people and been more specific about the subject.  And I wasn't directly relating Nazi's to Southern folks.  I was speaking about the thought processes of some from the each era.  To be more specific the whole perfect race thing.  I've ran into my fair share of KKK followers and some of them were to the extreme as believing in a master race.  Maybe it's those individuals that are giving the South a bad name.  Problem is there seems to be awhole lot of them.  It only takes a few to ruin or damage something for everyone.  And believe me I'm fully aware that the South isn't the only place with people like that.  But again I was referring to a major event in our past only as an example.  I just wasn't specific enough in what I wrote.

I watched Combat, or Rat Patrol when I was a kid

Poop ... I think you and I would get along just fine.

Those were 2 of my most favorite shows when I was a kid. Combat more than Rat Patrol.

Sgt. Saunders was the bomb and Cage with his BAR .... ouch !!!

Slap go here:

http://www.rareserials.com/tv.htm

It had been thirty years since I saw an episode. Purchased 2 tapes or six episodes. I had forgoten how good the shows were as far as story line etc. Definately stands the test of time. The list of guest stars is amazing.

Then I found a fan site that reviews each episode. I have a couple that Vic Morrow directed. REAL good stuff.
