Power Supply, caseand DVD burner choice - comments please
« on: January 08, 2004, 02:37:30 PM »
OK I have sitting ready a new Gigabyte GA8KNXP M/B, a P4 2.8 (C) Processor and a Radeon 9800Pro to build a new system.

The bits I need to order tomorrow are the case and PS most importantly and also a DVD burner.

The power supply I was looking at was an Antec TruPower 430W.

The Case would be Lian Li PC6070

Alternative would be an Antec package Antec Plus 1080AMG Metallic Gray File Server Case - 430W TruePower PSU - What I like about this is built in washable filters and included PS for just over 100 quid.

DVD burner I was looking at was Lite-On or Sony.

Any comments on these choices??

Thanks

Sparks

I'd step up to the 480W TruPower with that combination.  You probably would be ok with the 430W, but a little overhead won't hurt.

Cases are a pretty personal thing.  I like the Antec Sonata or Antec SLK3700AMB as I like those 120mm fans versus a gaggle of 80mm or 92mm fans.

I have the Antec 'Superlanboy', And the 120mm intake and exhaust fan's are great and quiet too. They keep my system nice and cool.

Thanks guys - good input :aok

OK - ordered an Antec P160 case,  Antec Trupower 550W PSU (no 480's in stock so what the hey ?? - can't beat overkill :) ), a Coolermaster Aero 4 for the processor, a Dual channel 1Gb PC3200 memory kit (CAS 2.5 coz I couldn't run to CAS2) and an MSI DVD / CD burner.   Oh and a second 120mm fan for extraction because the case has the fitting for it !!

This system had better last me a while coz its got Frickking expensive.

Thanks again

Hey Sparks, hope the system comes together ok! :)  BTW I did try the Coolermaster Aero 7 but found it wasn't very good!  Hope the Aero 4 (?) is okay?

Anyway, you back home now?
