Whats up with all the lag and warping?
« on: May 25, 2001, 01:24:00 AM »
It has never been like this in AH for me and its making it impossible to have fun and fly realistically with planes warping so much. Is there something wrong in general internet-wise, is it all the DL, or is this 1.07 related? Skuzzy? HTC?
I do belive its gonna be fixed but im really curious whats going on.

How long you been playing Aces High???   This always happens after a new release.  Has to do with all the increased stress on the server with everybody downloading at once...

S!

Worst lag I had yesterday BEFORE 1.07 was pretty annoying.I upped A26 and headed to A25 where Bishquits were en masse.Had 190D-9 with 500kg PureJoy under belly.
Approached 25 and dropped the 500kg EXACTLY on the Ostwind(Titus). What happened next..The darn thing started to roll towards the field, destroyed some things there(fuel, ammo) and was blown up MINUTES after I hit him...Our Panzer(Sekiji) was also pounding him without noticeable effect. Also ack did the same and still took MINUTES to kill him.Darn I didn't film it.
Also the planes I shoooted at took massive amount of hits before any damage. This lag/warping has become pretty frequent and WORSE all the time and for us Europeans with constant ping of 150ms+...

I never hit the MA on the same day after a new release. The lag and disco rates are too high.

I go offline, set all my views/convergences on the new stuff. Then I test all new equipment to familiarize myself with their capabilities. That way I usually don't get any nasty surprizes. (unless I happen to run into a P-47 driven by Sancho, <S> )

Finally, I do some editing on the sound files of the new stuff. Some very excellent sounds can be found at www.flightsim.com  And all thats required to use them in AH is to rename them, and put them in the appropiate folder.

I had to cancel the DL in the game and get it directly from the web.  my transfer time was like 2kb/sec in game download (about an hour DL!) and when I went to the web, it was a nice 125kb/sec for a 1 min 11 second DL!

I guess if more people used the FTP site to pull the patch, the arena would have been a little less warpy...  *shrugs*

Was actually pretty good for me yesterday, especially compared to other new version releases.  My first login out of habit was to the alt route, but that was terrible (seems like that's the route the dl traffic is on?), once swapped back to the main route I was seeing no more than the occasional microwarp.
