People don't use the La5 because the La7 is an La5 that is faster, turns better, accelerates better, climbs better, and has more firepower. Why would anyone want to handicap themselves?

Funny how we all get different ideas on the same raw material.
I'd swear the 5 is a better turner than the 7.

It's not about handicapping ourselves. Some of us fly certain planes for fun, for an added challenge and not to maximize kills and score. I've flown the 109G6 a little because I find it very hard to keep the edge in it and get kills, therefore it's very satisfying when I finally land kills.

I could just start flying la7/spit, because they're clearly better overall... I choose not to...

I don't know for certain, to be honest, because I rarely fly either. But "scientifically" speaking... the La7 has the same wing as the La5. It is lighter, so it would have lower wingloading, and it has a more powerful engine, so it would also have better "powerloading". I assume there are more nonsensical terms that I don't know, but I think it'd be safe to assume the La7 turns at least as well as the La5, and probably better. I know the La7 will turn with a 109G2, and out turn any later 109 and all the 190s. It could probably out-turn the P-51, definately the F4U and P-47, probably not the F6F or P-38.

Because its fun....brings a better challenge to a fight when everyone else is usin the 7.....like being the underdog.....like splashing the BETTER plane into the water:aok

when I see an La5 I allways just figure the guy is flying another late war dweeb plane but screaming out..

"look at me I'm not flying that dweeb La7" "I am depending on my skill rather than just choosing the best plane in the game!"

I fly the LA-5 alot, If I come upon an LA-7 he's as good as dead unless he runs, even then if he's low on E i'll still catch him because despite what alot of guys seem to think the LA-5 accelerates just as quick as the LA-7 and out turns it. The only real advantage a LA-7 has is top speed and slightly more firepower.

you wouldn't understand challenge because you fly easy-mode. maybe not an easy-mode plane (altho this is open to debate), but an easy-mode style.

Yeah, you seem to know a lot about the game. When you fly through a fure ball you only get the oportynity for a short burst.

Well gee thanks, Mr. Shane. Post the film. So not only were you flying easy mode, your opponent was too? I bet that didn't last long.

I wasn't sure who you meant by #1 - deej111 or overbkil? I've killed both in the CT within the last two weeks - and they have killed me too of course! Killed overbkil twice last night, although one showed as a ram on his end, but not on mine. I kept flying, but there was no kill credit message. We never did work out what had happened. I was quite satisfied with the evening, especially as I'd been off for a week, and last night was the first outing of my new Saitek stick, which felt weird at first... .

no no no.... #1 overall in MA!!! *the* man!!

it's a 5 min film with the action lasting 3 mins and 2 mins of it running when i forgot to turn it off and was laughing on squad channel 1 about it.

it was actually nothing special.

remember, my easy-mode la7 could have hightailed it at any time, right? but where's the fun in that?

Cyborg 3D! It's much more stable around the central position than any other stick I've tried. Taking aim was much easier than with the crappytech.
