W98SE hangs
« on: January 13, 2004, 04:44:59 PM »
I've got a friend who has W98SE and when he attempts to connect to the online section, the whole machine hangs.  Any ideas?

His specs...

533 mhz
32 or 64 mb ram (couldn't remember)

all of his machines specs would be nice

if thats 64mbs of system Ram then its not enough .. 128mb just barely gets by   256- 512 is better   win 98se can only use 512 mbs of ram effectivly anymore and its a waste  .

533mhz is on the bottom of the min requirements also ,its going to need a decent  64mb video card also .

A firewall program can also make it hang too.

Firewall or an anti-virus program is the probable cause.  Have them shut down and see if that cures it.

Sorry about the limited specs.  We were at work and that is all that he remembered.
