Mmm... even tanks don't guzzle gas as fast as aircraft.  I believe a Tiger has about a 150 gallon tank and that will last about 3 hours at full speed on paved road.  Cross country duration might actually be longer.  Figures seem to indicate that fuel burn is about 1.5x as much but top speed is only about half road speed.  And the Tiger is a heck of a gas guzzler for WWII tanks.
