Hey guys i was tryin to make a squad logo but something went wrong.  I cruised the internet and found a 400x400 logo, then i resized it to 64x64.  Then, i uploaded it to AH.  But, it all looks blocky and pixilated or whatever looking.  Any idea how i get rid of that blocky look?

I've been curious about this process myself.  When shrinking the pic I know if you just  adjust the image size it becomes pixelated.  Should I be doing canvas resizes instead to keep this from happening.  I'm currently using PSP 7 and Adobe Photo Shop 6 and Corel Photo Paint 9.

You want to convert the image to a mode that allows anti-aliasing (8 bit gray, 24 bit color etc.). Anti-aliasing is the averaging of pixels so as to make pixelation (aliasing) less apparent. Indexed color doesn't allow this. After you resize the image, you convert it back to indexed color, and most programs will choose the best pallet for you.

So in photoshop, to resize an 8 bit BMP (or .gif or any indexed color format).

Load the image.
Change mode to RGB
Resize the image
Change mode to indexed color and save as 8 bit bmp or whatever it was.
