I run Voodoo3 and don't see near the problems the Geforce users seem to be encountering.
Please list your sys specs here:
(mine)
Celery 366a @ 550
Voodoo3 3000 AGP
128mb ram
awe64
w98se
Cable isp
Frame rate problems:
NONE, framerate around an enemy carrier is better than it was around a smoking field.
Mebbe its time Pyro or HT installed a tnt based card in the orffice

AMD-K6 2 450Mhz
ATI Rage Pro Turbo with
Diamond Monster 3d II (VooDoo 2) Accelerator
128 Mb RAM
Windows ME
@Home cable service
I experience absolutly no change anywhere save for smoke. I had a rock solid 15 frames all night (real smooth on my machine)

PIII 500 MHz here, 32 Mb Diamond Viper V770
TNT video card, 128 Megs Ram. I get 30-40
fps in open country, but smoke and ack thrown
up from a fleet under attack sends my frame rate to single digits.

AMD Thunderbird 800
GeForce DDR (Hercules Prophet)
256mb RAM
No noticable problems. Frame rate may drop into the 30's around a carrier group.

Frame rates (btwn 25 and 50) seemed to hold up ok around enemy fleet even with snow storm of ack. Neat graphics, (like the torpedo wakes) nice upgrade once the bumps are smoothed out.
System specs:
800 mHz P3
256 ram
voodoo 5500
ata66 20 gig 7200rpm IBM hard drive
running res of 1280 x 1024 at 32 bit color
Road Runner Cable ISP

P3 550MHz
32MB Elsa Erasor X2 DDR (GeForce)
128MB RAM
SB 16 soundcard
Win98SE
1024x768 16bit resolution
Frame rates in previous version were fantastic. Smoke looked great, FRs around smoke laden fields were in the 20s.
FR here is around 20 within vicinity of a fleet .... drops even lower when that fleet is firing at me.
BIGGEST problem however is the frequent stuttering of the graphics...its very noticable and occurs when there is lots of activity occuring (e.g. around enemy fleets). This is NOT warping. Its the freezing of the screen for a fraction of a second and then the release. Its like the graphics card is waiting to do something.

PII 333/mmx w 320mb mix 66.100,133 sdram
Diamond Viper V770 Ultra (32mb) video
Diamond MX300 sound
Win98A with SE patches
and DX7A (DX8 can kiss my ash)
I have experienced a bit of a fps hit around V's and the action surrounding them but not bad though and definately not as bad as others.

cii566
128mb ram
Asus v6600 Geforce 32mb
Win98SE and DirectX8
Latest detonator drivers
1280 resolution, 16 colour
Frame rate drop to 7 on a carrier, and are half what they used to be otherwise.

Athlon 900 t-bird
128MB RAM
Voodoo3 AGP
soundblasterlive
game runs fine im guessing around a 5-8 fps drop since 1.05.
I get anything from 20fps in very busy fleet actions to 72fps in the air from cockpits.
