I'm back and I'm Getting rid of old joysticks
« on: January 23, 2004, 12:06:30 AM »
Hey Gang,
Just dropping a line. I've been away for a bit. I got married in Sept. I just built a new computer, a p4 2.8ht 800mhz w/ 1bg ram, ati AIW 9800 pro, and a SB audigy 2 zs platnum and brand new ch pro usb gear (fighter stick pro throt and pro pedals).

My companies Contract is up so until we find a new one Iam out of work for a bit wich gives me more time for Aces High. Hell Ive been paying for it for almost a year and haven't flown at all until recently.

Oh BTW way back in the beginings of AW4W on AOL a wingy of mine gave me a Microsnot sidewinder 3d pro. Way back at awcon98 Stiletto adn AckAck arrenged it so that I got a free complete ch pro set up. I got a switchbox, a gamecard, a gamepad, a ch f16 fighterstick, ch pro throt, and pro pedals. Well I didn't need the sidwinder any more so I gave it away. Now unfortunately I use windows XP and we all know analog ch gear can not be programed on XP and 2k. So I went out and purchased brand new Ch pro usb gear. This is what I curently have for Analog gear.
1) Ch game port f-16 fightersick
2) Ch game port Pro Throttle (the ps2 pass threw is broke but the AT pass
threw works and Iam including the AT to ps2 attapters)
3) Thrustmaster gameport Rudder pedels
4) Suncom f-15 eagle talon flight stick
5) Suncom F-15 DUAL Throttle (Split throttle controll for 2 engines)
6) the old ch switchbox, gamecard 3 automatic and analog gameport gamepad

Now Since I've never paid for any of this stuff and it all has been givin to me and I do not have any use for it Iam going to give it all away. Iam going to give my squadies first crack at it but given its all gameport. either Iam not going to get rid of any of it, or Iam going to have a bunch of stuff left over. non of this stuff works on win Xp or 2K so you need win95/98/me AKA Win9x. All that I ask is that..

1) you have an actual use for it other then selling it. I don't care if its your kids computer or yours but you need to have a need for it and your going to use it.
2) any gear you replace with it you cannot throw away you need to give it away to someone even goodwill works.
3) when you replace the gear should you take it, it must be given away not sold and not thrown away. find some one that needs it and give it to them.

Understand its sort of the sprit of it that counts. Alot of good people went out of there way to make sure that I had good flight gear and I would feal really bad to discard it or profit from it. So if your interested post it here or email me at mayhem_33rd@yahoo.com .

thanks

What I wouldn't give to have a nonbroken joystick! I'm using an old, broken MS Sidewinder. It's so old, it's the original wood-burning model :)

A squaddie sent me a stick he wasn't using, but it was broken in transit. I'm beginning to think I have a black cloud following me.

I live in Japan and there are absolutely no joysticks available anywhere in Japan - only game controllers. And CH and other manufacturers and online retailers will not ship to Japan. :(

It would probably cost about US$100 to ship fighterstick, pedals and throttle to Japan, but I would be happy to send cash. I run 98SE since getting an English copy of XP costs about $450 here...

Knowing my luck, someone else has already scooped them up, but it was a nice thought and generous offer on your part.

I posted earlier that I was giving away some CH products (with TM Pedals) and suncom gaming gear. So far no one from my squad has responded that they want them. I have had mabey 4 people express intrest. 1 person wants them for parts. 1 person wants to buy just the pedals. 1 person lives in japan and may be better off with the suncom gear (he stated CH doesn't ship to japan so if he ever needs parts he's screwed) and i need to check shiping cost. and one person has a friend who still hasn't emailed me that he actually wants them. I have had about 2 emails accusing me of conning the comunity and want to know what the catch is. The catch is I'am going to give them away to people that I feel need them the most and threw whom I think the community would benift the most from them and they in turn need to promise to give away the gear when they replace it. I haven't checked the cost of shipping yet but if it isn't to much I'll probably even pay for the plane jane shipping charges. I have no intentions of screwing anyone or Conning (no I don't own a b-17 ) anyone or turning this into a game. It's rather simple, I didn't pay jack for any of this stuff (I did give CH products 10 bucks to replace my orriginal pro throttle but that doesn't count) It was all giving to me by the Air Warrior (the CH gear) and Flight sim Community (Suncom and TM). I currently use brand New CH USB gear and TM USB gear. All of my Computers at home except my laptop witch doesn't have gameport any way run on Windows XP PRO, So I do beleive the suncom gear wount work at all  in XP and the CH gear is not programable in XP. To use the CH gear on XP/2K and be able to program it you need to either use a dual boot system with win9x/me on it or you need to hook it up to a win9x/me system to program it. Microstoft Locked out the abilaty to send data up the ps/2-at keyboard port in the in NT OS's including XP pro and XP home. Hell I gave away my old MS sidewainder 3d pro when I got the Ch gear becuase someone gave it to me as well. Now when I go to get rid of my new CH gear since I actually paid for it Iam probably going to sell it when and if I get rid of it. Hell when I was at awcon98 I got an extra pro throt and a CH force feedback combat stick so I gave them away to a squad mate. Alot of people gave stuff away to people that needed or wanted gear st awcon98 and Iam sure that was the same at all the AWcons and even at the AHcons.

Heres some notes and history about the gear I have.

The suncom gear has not been tested by me but I was told it is good and works on a win9x/me system Iam perty sure it does not work on XP and would not be programable any way. your going to need an AT to PS2 keyboard port adapter (not included) for newer (ATX based) systems. these are cheap and fairley easy to find (compusa, staples, officemax ect). It has the split throttle (you can use it to control two engines or one engine and prop pitch full mixture ect. or you can lock them together the latch and use them as a traditional single axes throttle) this should come in handy for you twin engine p38 or buff types.

I have tested the TM peddals there was a little spikey ness to it but that was probably due to my system at the time. I origanaly had ch pedals but I traded them to some one that had the USB ones but need the gameport pedals I had (this was the person I gave the extra CH pro throt and FF Combat stick to).

The CH pro throttle I had replaced becuase the port broke on the old one this has got to be one of the last ones made by CH it also has all 8 way HATS (4 way programable that combines to be 8 way like the 8 way on the fighter stick). Some stupid idiot (me) jamed my PC case back in its cubby and bent the ps2 pass threw on it so Unless its worked on or replaced I doubt it will work. BUT the AT keyboard pass threw works and you can evenuse it with ps2 keyboards ports by using the Included ps2 to AT and AT to ps2 keyboard adapters. YES these will go with the Gear and I have tested them they do work. It is curently programed for AH using my template for the way I fly you will probably want to reprogram it as soon as you get it for the way you fly.

I want to try and limit this to 2 people so I only have to send out 2 boxes (one for the CH and TM gear another one for the Suncomm gear). Again this is needs based. And Don't offer to buy them Iam not intrested in money. It would go against the spirit of it and how I obtained them in the first place.

again IF you need them and want them email me at mayhem_33rd@yahoo.com here is a link to a picture of the gear http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/mayhem_33rd/detail?.dir=/8c0e&.dnm=8d94.jpg

Your probably going to be more intersted in the suncom gear since you cannot get CH to ship to if you ever needs parts for the CH gear. Again the gear is not for sale but if shipping charges are high I may ask for you to pay for the shipping I at least need an email to express intrest. so email me. keep in mind if do not have win9x/me or intend to updrade to nt/2k/xp you do not want this gear. you would be better off looking arouynd for some one that will ship CH gear or TM gear to you or even sytek (sp?). even if the company does not ship directly to you. some outlets may suck as compusa best buy mwave or some of the online flighsim speciallty shops.

Mayhem check your email buddy. I have a co-worker that is running Win98SE and might be interested in the CH stick and throttle. I will call him today and ask. If so I will let you know in another email and I can pick up the shipping easily for the TM pedals and CH gear.

Thanks for the offer.
