Actually, the fact that he kept to it for a full year is amazing. 6 weeks is nothing.
I had two volleyball buddies that got on the "Body For Life" program. They both did the 9 week program and entered the photo contest. They looked great, aside from the constant muscle pulls from overtraining and the ephedra risks from the supplements (which didn't become public until after they finished).
The following season we were all sitting around and I noticed that one buddy had gone back to his old appearance and the other mentioned he had just recently gotten back on the program after a 6-month lull. I asked them about that and they admitted that the program is hard to sustain if you're a working professional with a family and outside interests. Training like that requires a dedication few people can keep. So, one decided to find other training regimines and the other decided to limit his training to the first quarter of the year (the months before beach volleyball season begins).
