frame rate and true frame rate problems
« on: January 31, 2004, 02:35:56 AM »
Hi I have some problems with framerate.

Most of the times it works fine - 15-25 fps - is enough. Entering combat I press Shift F3 all ok.

But last time I get suddenly reduce of frame rate the screen freezes for half a second continue once more contine. FPS stayes around 15. What does it mean? I feel that FPS no more then 2-3 when it shows actually 10-15.

I had once this problem - it dissapeared and few days ago it returned.

I made an experement I take a plane wach the horisont and make roll. Over sea BoB map. normally fps is from 25 to 15. I start rolling I can see screen freeses for 1/3 of second or something like that then continue normal after a second once more screen freeses for half a second. That is the behavior. (No close objects no planes in the air altitude about 10k)

No anti virus programs running nothing like that - normal system configuration. Ping about 190-210ms

System: Win XP
CPU Intel Pentium II 350 MHz
Video ATI RAGE 128 (16MB).
256MB RAM

Normally I have no frame rate problems.

looks like I solved this problem - reboot

I have not rebooted my computer a week and I have run a lot of other programs. So I think it was all about memory leak - or more right that Windows does not remove properly the momory was used by other threads and processes.

256 megs of RAM pretty marginal for XP.
