GTO, it was not a regular handgun.  I would class it as a "souvenir" or curio more than anything else.  It was a pen gun originally from Pakistan.  The ammo I used was from years ago.  Modern .25 ammo will not chamber in it.

I had the bright idea of wanting to see what it would do, and attempted to fire it into some phone books stacked on the floor.  It slipped from my hand and went off when it landed on the floor.  I may have placed my foot on it or kicked it away as it fell.

So I didn't get the Darwin award that day, but came close.  I'm very fortunate it wasn't worse.

rules for handling loaded firearms

1) do not point firearm at anything you do not want to kill.

2) do not drop loaded firearms.

3) do not let liberals "play" with loaded firearm.

4) act like all firearms are loaded.
