Only difference between the old vets and noob's is they have learned to be as profane, as they prolly are to their loved ones, as they wish to be by having already be kicked for it and have learned to circumvent the system.

Bot's may get the text buffer job done to some extent but moderator's know what the intent was and can respond to it. Pity there are so few in the arena.

its a wierd set up, but if i get warned i generally relax and hush, also there are times when i get muted no warning at all...

also i think the system needs a bit laxing ie...

i got muted for10 min once when instead of combing the word cockpit i wrote it as **** pit

anyway when words are slang even listed in dictionary with definition there should be some lax...

words are words simple... only the weak minded get insulted like 2 yr olds:)

Not a SINGLE hour goes by where some one isn't either cursing (sometimes modified so the auto moderator can't pick it up, or insulting someone on their race or creed.

What we need are moderators that are more aggressive and can mute for inflammatory statements as well. I'm not talking about 'nice HO' or 'runstang go', I'm talking about (exact copy of a screen shot I have) 'Go home you ghey jew'.

On a more humorous note, I got muted for using 'FAC' (Forward Air Controller) when I was trying to help a cruiser gunner hit a VH. The system isn't perfect, but I have only been muted once in all the years I've been on AH.

How many times have you been muted? If you have been muted, why?

Why do I get the feeling those who don't like the system are the one attempting to abuse it?

Delerium, I take that statement of his as proof the system works. ;)
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

Delerium has a point. I love to spread propaganda and trash talk on Channel 1, but have never been muted. There is definately a right and wrong way to do it.

I am probably more guilty than 95% of the posters in this thread and I will be the first to admit that I have been muted on numerous occasions for using swear words albeit spelt incorrectly.

The point i am trying to make is:

Someone types a swear word in text buffer (rightly/wrongly spelt) they get warned/muted and rightly so as there are kids that play this game and we should all be trying to set an example to them (fat lot of good it will do).

Then, you see a person making defamatory remarks against someone elses mother/daughter/sister or racist remarks about someones caste or religion and these go completely unpunished! In fact the conversation on channel 1 can go on feor an hour and still nothing is done or anyone is warned.

Now, whilst I agree that swearing on chan 1 is wrong and should be moderated, I feel very strongly that if a conversation starts on channel 1 and becomes "abusive" , "defamatory" , "racist" or just downright "nasty" then they too should a)be warned, then b) muted.

After reading some of the comments from the parents I will endeavour to not swear in text in future out of respect to their children.

Sorry for such a lengthy post!

Hammy
