Knights know how to run missions

Or at least WMspitty does.

Tuesday evening, WMspitty put up a mission on Mindano to capture Bishop A21.  A21 is the base on the far left of the map, seperated from the rest of the fight by hundreds of miles of water.

Four flights of aircraft left the Knight mainland on our daring mission.  P-51Ds (loaded with HE rockets and 1000 pound bombs), P38s (equivalent load-out), N1k2s, and a lone C-47.  The entire mission was to take place under radar.

From the begining I knew this mission had potential. Spitty had us organized very well.  The C-47 had an escort of four N1k2s, and the heavy fighters were all tightly formed up at 100 feet agl.  Then our luck turned...

"Bogeys 1:00 low!"  How could a bogey be "low" if we were at 100 feet?  By chance, an enemy bomber mission flying noe managed to spot us.  We revved up to 100% power and flew south to avoid detection.  Too late.  Then came the fighters...

The N1k2s were engaged, I could hear them on the radio.  Then a BF-109 came streaking past our fighter formation. Following orders,  I dumped ordinance and followed another P-51 (FTBill) to intercept the 109.  Bill did the most realistic peel-off I have ever seen in AH.  So we pursued the 109.  He was headed straight for our C-47, which by now was within 100 miles of the enemy base.  Our Nakijima boys engaged the 109 head on.  I saw the Bf-109 break up in midair, but I also saw an N1k2 streaming toward the ocean with smoke trailing.  "No time to watch for a chute, got to get back to business!" I thought to myself.

The two P-51s (myself included) and remaining N1k2s formed on the goon.  We could hear on the radio that our guys were pounding the enemy base.  "Hangar destroyed..ack down!  Here comes a fighter watch out!".  But we were to get some excitement of our own.  I looked out the rear of my canopy, and low-and-behold, a bandit was screaming down on our formation.  "Bandit 6:00!"  I flipped my virtual merlin to full power, peeled out of formation, and set up on an intercept course.  A friendly N1k2 and P-51 followed me.  *HOST CONNECTION LOST*

The server booted us all then.
