Should the Feb SSO be postponed to March?
« on: January 27, 2004, 04:58:51 AM »
Hello Gents & Ladies!

Ruhr starts on Sat Feb 7th 2004, the next SSO is scheduled to start on Sun Feb 8th 2004.

As most SSO squads are also flying in Ruhr, this would effectively tie up three weekends straight in February. Some pilots might get some "flak" on the homefront due to this.

Should we postpone the SSO until after Ruhr?

Actually, with the week break, the next SSO is not due to start until the 15th.  If the SSO is postponed, I think it will have an impact on the numbers which are starting to come back up, so I would prefer to see it continue as normal..... there are SSO participants who won't be taking part in the scenario.  :)

I too think it might be a good idea to postpone the SSO while Ruhr is ongoing...

We love scenario flying, but we can only do so much as we are allowed to by "she who makes the rules in the house"

Ruhr may actually ruin the SSO if it is attempted to be run at the same time. If those 3 SSO frames are run and people dont attend..  wont it ruin the feeling for all, even those new people. it would not be fair for the CM:s either doing the hard work.

It is mostly the same people who run squadrons and brief the pilots. Ruhr will take most of their attention and therefore SSO planning (side CO:s) might overload them.

Should we at least ask how many SSO squadrons and/or pilots are participating in Ruhr?

Most of LLv34 are in Ruhr and Camo commands the whole Axis side. Personally, I have a family with 2 small kids. No chance to participate in both SSO and Ruhr.

ps. last SSO frame was great fun :)

Blast .. email problems.

Decision is that SSO is on hold until after Ruhr. Too many of hte SSO squads and command staff are tied up in Ruhr.
