No need to prove it's photoshopped. I have eyes. Don't you think that pic would be in every campaign ad against Kerry if it were real? Saying Kerry only had a "few scratches" is an insult to any man who served in combat. I would expect more respect from a Marine for a vet who did his duty. You don't like Kerry, you never will like Kerry and I will never change your opinion. Likewise, you won't change mine.
My brother lost his left leg in Vietnam after being wounded in a firefight, he also took part in protests to end the war after he returned. He was not a Hippie, Flower Child or anything other than a Vet that knew something was very wrong. He also disliked Jane Fonda and her tactics.
You see there are different factions that protested. People like Fonda, who wanted North Vietnam to win the war and people like Kerry and my brother who wanted us to withdraw our troops before any more had to die for a meaningless cause. I don't know if you were alive during the war, but I was. I remember Walter Cronkite telling us nightly how many Americans died that day in South East Asia and that the war was a lost cause. I remember going to funerals of boys my family knew. I remember the night my mother learned my brother was seriously wounded.
The military in the 60's was not like Gomer Pyle, it was more like Full Metal Jacket. There was no reason for us to be in Vietnam. The "Domino Theory" of nations becoming Communist proved to be wrong, just as many belived it was. The Government of South Vietnam was corrupt, just as many belived it was. The tactics that were being used were wrong, just as many belived it was.The War was wrong, just as many of us belived it was. You can support our troops without supporting the reason they are there. You can do everything in your power to make sure they return home alive and no more have to go in their place. I can only conclude that you were never personally touched by that War.
I am very Pro Military, I am a Vet and I also don't think we should put American lives at risk for purely political reasons. I may not agree with the mission, but I back our troops where ever, whenever. Kerry personally knows the horror of War, Bush knows diddly squat.
