Tell us what happened!
He was out spear fishing with a mask and a pointed stick. He finds what looks to me like a nurse shark, sitting partially under a rock, about 2.5 feet long. He decides to grab it by its tail to keep it from swiming away or further under the rock. Then he starts trying to stab it with his stick.
When the nurse shark comes out from under the rock, it whips around and starts biting him on the arm. He starts trying to swim back to shore, having a tough time with no fins and a shark hanging off his arm. He turns and bites the shark himself. Finally, he makes it back on shore and smashes its head against a rock. The thing left a 3-4 inch mark on his arm. It looked like a deep abrasion, not the kind of nasty wound other breeds of sharks would make.
I have never heard of a nurse shark biting anyone before but I guess if you grab its tail and jab it with a stick it will.
